The festival poster, designed by Ghanaian photographer Carlos Idun-Tawiah, heralds an edition that opens its doors to artists from across the African continent. One of the main sections of the program, \u201cIndependences,\u201d will feature a group exhibition titled \u201cGhana: Dreaming of Independence, 1957\u20131976,\u201d showcasing works by historic artists such as James Barnor and contemporary photographers. Ivorian photographer Paul Kodjo, who passed away in 2021, will be the focus of a solo exhibition \u201cPhotoromance,\u201d which will undoubtedly showcase the scope of a body of work that immortalized the spirit of Ivorian youth in the post-independence years, much like that of Malian photographer Malick Sidib\u00e9. Among the other photographers from the continent is Sammy Baloji from the Congo, who will present a history of the Katanga secession in the 1960s, a few weeks after the independence of Congo-Kinshasa. Visitors will discover the collage and photomontage work of South African photographer Thato Toeba in an exhibition titled \u201cAnyone Can Be Lucifer,\u201d as well as the fourth chapter of Katia Kameli\u2019s project <i>Le Roman alg\u00e9rien<\/i> [The Algerian Novel], centered on the generation of Algerian writer Assia Djebar. &nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.diptykmag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/SPH23_Humoristes-portfolio-incruste-par-OmarVictorDIOP-et-LeeSHULMAN-2-1024x721-1.jpg\" alt=\"SPH23_Comedians-portfolio-insert-by-OmarVictorDIOP-and-LeeSHULMAN-2-1024x721\"><p><\/p>\n<figcaption>Lee Shulman and Omar Victor Diop, <i>Being There<\/i>, 2024.<br\/>Courtesy of the artists.<\/figcaption>\n<\/figure>\n<p><b>The Mediterranean Exhibitions<\/b><\/p>\n<p>As a partner of this 57th edition, Diptyk magazine will cover the three exhibitions of the Mediterranean Season, including Katia Kameli\u2019s show, as well as \u201cMediterranean, Is This Where We Used to Live?\u201d by Anne-Lise Broyer, which explores the motif of ruins\u2014her work having been on view at the French Institute in Tangier in the summer of 2024\u2014and \u201cTar: Tangier \u2013 Cape Town\u201d by Bruno Boudjelal, who spent five years traversing the asphalt roads of the African continent and whose  <i>&#8220;Off-center compositions and blurry photographs evoke a sense of time standing still&#8221;<\/i>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Two other sections of the In program\u2014which features no fewer than 46 exhibitions\u2014will showcase artists from the continent and the Global South. The \u201cUncertain Archives\u201d section features Senegalese photographer Omar Victor Diop, who, in collaboration with Lee Shulman and The Anonymous Project, presents the series <i>Being There<\/i>, in which he inserts himself into anonymous photographs of American families from the 1950s and 1960s.  <\/p>\n<figure style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.diptykmag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/entre-jeux-de-couleurs-et-de-lumieres-harry-gruyaert-presente-sa-nouvelle-exposition.jpg\" alt=\"A Play of Colors and Light: Harry Gruyaert Presents His New Exhibition\"><p><\/p>\n<figcaption>Harry Gruyaert,  Carnival, Belgium, Antwerp, 1992. Courtesy of the artist. <\/figcaption>\n<\/figure>\n<p><b>William Klein, Martin Parr, and Harry Gruyaert<\/b><\/p>\n<p>The Louis Roederer Foundation Discovery Prize, curated by the Franco-Beninese artist Nadine Hounkpatin, honors seven winners, including Souleymane Bachir Diaw of Senegal. His project \u201cSutura\u201d (meaning \u201cmodesty\u201d in Wolof and \u201csewing\u201d in Latin) seeks to show how fabrics can also reveal family memories and cultural legacies. Fondation H presents the series <i>(Tsy) Possible<\/i> by Franco-Cameroonian photographer Charlotte Yonga. First exhibited in 2024 at the Yosr Ben Ammar Gallery in Tunis, the series <i>Bent El Machta <\/i>by Tunisian photographer Amira Lamti, which focuses on wedding rituals in the Tunisian Sahel, will also be one of the highlights of this award dedicated to emerging artists. <\/p>\n<p>Among the leading figures in international photography, we should also mention the exhibitions dedicated to William Klein\u2014marking the centennial of his birth\u2014Martin Parr, Harry Gruyaert\u2014whose exhibition \u201cA Sense of Place\u201d will bring together his most iconic series\u2014and the African-American photographer Ming Smith.
