Un accord de coopération internationale vient d’être signé entre le MuCEM (Marseille) et la Fondation Jardin Majorelle pour mutualiser leurs efforts en matière de valorisation du patrimoine berbère. Les échanges entre les deux institutions porteront sur la conservation, la restauration et l’inventaire de leurs collections amazighes.
Des échanges d’expositions entre les deux musées sont par ailleurs envisagés. L’objectif affiché : créer une passerelle et « valoriser les patrimoines des deux rives de la Méditerranée ». Le Mucem conserve dans ses collections « plus d’un millier d’objets marocains » tandis que la Fondation Jardin Majorelle, qui ouvrait en 2011 son Musée Berbère, répertorie dans les siennes quelque 3000 objets.
