Diptyk #11

Arab Artists Shine at the Venice Biennale

In the summer of 2011, artists from the Arab world took center stage at the 54th Venice Biennale, and Diptyk #11 visited their pavilions, from “The Future of a Promise” to an edition deemed uneven. This summer 2011 issue features an interview with Yto Barrada, for whom “family in art is always a work in progress,” and curator Abdellah Karroum. It follows three Moroccan women in New York: Amina Agueznay, Safaa Erruas, and Najia Mehadji. It also features Jaume Plensa’s monumental portfolio, a behind-the-scenes look at the Marrakech Art Fair, and a tribute to Claudio Bravo.
