Diptyk #44

Dak’art 2018, the Hour of All Miracles

Nine years after its first issue, Diptyk asks a new question: is there an audience for contemporary Arab and African art? This summer 2018 issue looks for the answer at the Dakar Biennale, celebrated like a national holiday. Diptyk #44 also follows Hicham Gardaf, a “refugee of modernity”, and imagines the museum of the future. It looks back at the Jemaa El Fna manifesto, fifty years on, and at masterpieces of the Casablanca School sold at auction. Interviews and portfolios complete the issue.
