The Dakar Biennale Unveils Its Selection

The 16th Dakar Biennale is taking shape. Scheduled for November 19 through December 19, 2026, this new edition—themed “ (Anti)fragility” by its artistic director Morad Montazami—unveiled the list of participating artists yesterday at the Museum of Black Civilizations in Dakar. Borrowed from essayist Nassim Nicholas Taleb, the concept of “antifragility” explores how vulnerability can become a strength. The biennial will be organized around three themes: “The Powers of the Fragile,” “The Arts of Care and Repair,” and “Strategies of Backlash.”
